How to Get to Albania — Flights, Ferries & Buses

Getting to Albania Is Easier Than You Think

Albania is more connected than ever, with direct flights from dozens of European cities, ferry connections from Greece and Italy, and well-maintained border crossings with all neighbouring countries. Here's everything you need to know to plan your journey.

By Air — Airports in Albania

Tirana International Airport (TIA / Nënë Tereza)

Albania's main airport, located in Rinas, 25 km northwest of Tirana. It serves direct flights from most major European cities including London, Rome, Milan, Munich, Vienna, Istanbul, and many more. Budget airlines like Wizz Air and Ryanair offer affordable connections year-round. From the airport, you can book a private transfer to any destination in Albania.

Kukës International Airport

A newer, smaller airport in northern Albania, mainly serving connections to/from Turkey. Useful if heading to the Albanian Alps or Kosovo.

Vlora International Airport (Opening 2026)

Currently under construction, this airport will serve the Albanian Riviera directly, making southern Albania much more accessible.

By Ferry

Corfu to Saranda

The most popular ferry route. Multiple daily departures year-round, taking 30–90 minutes depending on the vessel. This is the fastest way to reach southern Albania and the Riviera. Many travellers fly into Corfu and ferry across.

Italy to Albania

Overnight ferries connect Bari and Brindisi (Italy) to Durres (Albania). The crossing takes 8–10 hours and ferries have cabins and car decks. A good option if you're driving from Western Europe.

By Bus

Regular international buses connect Albania with Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina), North Macedonia (Skopje, Ohrid), Kosovo (Pristina, Prizren), and Montenegro (Podgorica, Ulcinj). Buses are affordable but journeys can be long.

By Car

Albania shares borders with Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Greece. All border crossings accept EU and international driving licences. Roads in Albania have improved dramatically in recent years, with modern highways connecting Tirana to Kosovo and the coast. You can also rent a car through us for maximum flexibility.

Getting Around Once You're Here

Within Albania, we offer private transfers between any two points, car rentals for independent exploration, and organized day trips from Tirana and other cities. Public transport (furgon minibuses) exists but is limited outside major routes.
